Thai Delegates visit Future of Wireless International Conference
UK Trade & Investment selected three delegates from Thailand to attend the Future of Wireless International Conference in Cambridge.
Cambridge Wireless, the UK’s pre-eminent membership organisation for those involved in the wireless industry, organised the 5th Future of Wireless International Conference from the 1-2 July 2013. This event is well-known to both local and international mobile industry players, academics and advisers and attracted more than 400 participants.
Working with Cambridge Wireless, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) invited overseas delegates from 25 markets to participate in this leading wireless event. UKTI selected three Thai representatives from True Corporation, CAT Telecom PLC and Loxley Wireless Co Ltd and provided some support to their participation.
During the International Conference, which focused on “Everything Will Be Connected”, the delegates heard that as increasing numbers of people have mobile phones and smart devices it is now possible to connect large numbers of physical objects to the Internet and Cloud and give each of them an online digital representation. Many people therefore wonder what really happens when every ‘thing’ is connected to the Cloud and by implication to everything else; when computers know where everything is and computers can enhance our perception and understanding of our surroundings. Cambridge Wireless invited a number of international speakers with world-leading expertise in these areas to present their views of the future.
In addition to the main conference a number of activities were organised for the Thai delegates including a small exhibition, a conference gala dinner at Kings College and speed matching between UK companies and the international delegates. The Thai delegates also had many opportunities to network with the speakers and to meet UK companies with an interest in Thailand. The Thai delegates reported that they met a number of interesting UK companies and have also been introduced to new technologies from the UK. UKTI is working with the delegates to follow up on these opportunities.
