Sir David King, UK Climate Change Special Representative, visits Korea 22-23 June
Climate Change discussions between UK Climate Change and Korean representatives from business & politics ahead of Paris UN Climate Change Conference.
Sir David King, the Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative for Climate Change, will visit Seoul from 22 to 23 June 2015. He will meet government officials, lawmakers and business leaders and discuss the importance and urgency of action to prevent dangerous climate change and the economic opportunities stemming from moving to low carbon.
Sir David King was appointed Special Representative for Climate Change in September 2013 and this will be his second visit to Korea since taking up the role. Coming shortly before countries meet in Paris at the end of this year to negotiate an international climate change agreement, his visit will provide an opportunity to discuss efforts the UK and Korea are making to reduce emissions and secure an ambitious global climate deal.
Regarding his visit to South Korea, Sir David King said:
South Korea has a vital role to play in international efforts to prevent dangerous climate change. I’m very much looking forward to my visit and to being able to discuss ways to raise levels of ambition so we can meet our internationally agreed target of keeping temperature rise below 2 degrees.
