Remembrance Sunday

It is a tradition throughout the world that representatives of the United Kingdom, Commonwealth countries and other combatant nations lay wreaths on Remembrance Sunday in memory of those who fell during the First World War and subsequent military conflicts. 2014 marks 100 years since the start of the First World War.

The service is open to the public and those attending are asked to assemble at the cemetery car park at 10.45 before proceeding to the Memorial Cross, where the reverend Bjarni Þór Bjarnason will lead a short ceremony in English. All present will then walk to the German War Grave, close by, for another short service.
