Remembrance Day in Moscow

On Sunday 9 November British Ambassador Tim Barrow and Defence Attaché Air Commodore Carl Scott joined their counterparts from Commonwealth, Allied and other countries to mark this year’s Remembrance Service in Moscow.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The ceremony, held at the city’s St Andrew’s Church, is a national event in the UK, one of the most significant events in the military calendar, and also commemorated in all overseas territories and wherever British servicemen are serving throughout the world.

A great number of distinguished World War II veterans, whose fathers were soldiers in WWI, also took part in the ceremony.

British Embassy staff and the Church congregation expressed its support for the Royal British Legion’s charity work through the Poppy Appeal collecting £1,400.

Following the Service a reception was held at the Ambassador’s Residence, hosted by Air Commodore Scott.
