Remembering our fallen heroes worldwide

The British High Commission in Tanzania marked Remembrance Sunday with a commemoration service on Sunday, 9 November, 2014 at the Commonwealth and German War Graves in Dar es Salaam.

Commonwealth War Graves in Dar es Salaam- Tanzania

On 9 November, The British High Commissioner H.E Dianna Melrose and German Ambassador to Tanzania H.E Egon Kochanke, Military Adviser Colin Danvers , Heads of Missions in Tanzania to mention a few, paid tribute to those who made the supreme sacrifice so that the generations that followed could live in peace. This anniversary marks the end of World War I on 11 November 1918.

The invitation was open to public. Heads of Missions in Tanzania laid their wreaths in respect of the fallen heroes.

The British High Commissioner, German Ambassador and the Tanzania People’s Defence Force laid their wreaths on 11th November at the Askari Monument within the city centre in commemoration of the first Tanzanian who died during the First World War.
