The British Ambassador, Mr Phil Batson and his wife Jo welcome the guests of the reception.

The Ambassador hosted a reception on 18 June 2013 on the occasion of Her Majesty The Queen’s Official Birthday.

The reception highlighted the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation and the guests had the opportunity to watch a documentary from that memorable event in the summer house of the British Ambassador’s Residence.

Guests attending the reception represented the wide range of engagement of the British Embassy Chisinau throughout the Republic of Moldova, including support for Moldova’s European integration aspirations and ongoing efforts to find a settlement on Transnistria.

The reception promoted the GREAT campaign, showcasing the best of British Technology and Innovation, Knowledge, Heritage, Creativity, Music and Sport, but with a particular emphasis on Countryside, Green issues, and Culture.

The surprise of the evening was British Embassy Chisinau choir who sang (without musical accompaniment) the national anthems of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Moldova. The choir was formed of UK and local staff especially for this event.
