Panel discussion considers ‘the role of professionalism and ethics’ in Russia

The British Embassy Moscow has hosted a panel discussion with the participation of three UK professional bodies.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

On Tuesday 27 November, British Ambassador Tim Barrow hosted a panel discussion and reception at his residence to consider ‘the role of professionalism and ethics in the development of a successful international financial centre’.

Practitioners from the UK and Russia are collaborating to support Moscow’s initiative to develop as an international financial centre, and the panel discussion considered the importance of professional standards as a driver for this project.

Three UK professional bodies participated in the event: the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Delegates representing a range of Russian and British companies attended the discussion, along with representatives from several of Russia’s most prestigious educational institutions. The panel highlighted the increasing importance of professionalism and universal standards as financial markets become more interconnected.

More information about the ongoing UK-Russia collaboration on the Moscow as an International Financial Centre initiative can be found on the website of TheCityUK, which is the UK body co-ordinating this project.
