Opening of The British School of Tashkent (Upper Campus)
Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mr George Edgar, OBE officially opened the new primary campus of The British School of Tashkent.
The British School of Tashkent is a fully licensed International School, approved by The British Chamber and The Uzbek Ministry of Education. It follows the English National Curriculum as developed by the British Government. It is a standardised programme and is delivered in Tashkent the same way as any British School worldwide.
The ceremony was led by the children, who also sang three specially prepared songs for the guests. This event gathered students, parents and partners of The British School who had a chance to bond together during a buffet after the official ceremony as well as take a tour around the school.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on 14 November, the Ambassador said: “I’m very pleased to see the presence of British education in Tashkent expanding further. I’ve visited the first campus of the British School, and have had a chance this morning to see the new campus. At both campuses, the strongest impression was that this is a happy place. I wish the British School of Tashkent every success as they grow and develop, and its pupils joy in their education.”
In his welcoming speech the Headmaster, Mr. David Kirkham, talked about the importance of school being a place where children feel happy, challenged and secure. In order for that to come true, he said, every detail of the new premises has been thought through, school classrooms have been equipped with the latest technology and the library offers a good variety of books. The school now has indoor and outdoor sports facilities as well as an attractive assembly hall where the ceremony took place.
