New Charge d’Affaires to Slovenia appointed

Mr Christopher Yvon has been appointed Charge d'Affaires Ad Interim to Slovenia. He will take up his appointment on 29 April 2014.

He will succeed Mr Andrew Page, who left Slovenia in December 2013, and lead the Embassy until the new Ambassador to Slovenia, Sophie Honey, starts in early 2015.

Christopher is currently serving as the British Ambassador to Macedonia. Before that he was Deputy Head of International Organisations Department in London from 2007 to 2010. He has particular experience of multilateral work, especially in UN issues. His experience includes areas such as human rights and UN Security Council work. Christopher began his career in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1989. He has been posted to Prague, Bangkok, Riyadh and Port Louis.

He is married to Annette and has two daughters and one son.

On his appointment Mr Yvon said:

I am delighted to be taking up my new posting in Slovenia and very much look forward to exploring ways in which the UK and Slovenia can work together in even greater depth. As EU and NATO partners, especially in this important anniversary year for Slovenia, I am keen to focus on enhancing the relationship in areas such as international security and prosperity.
