The British Embassy is seeking a suitable person for the temporary position of Assistant Commercial Officer. Working directly to the Commercial Officer, your responsibilities will include monitoring of tender announcements and information on trade exhibitions, translation of commercial offers, correspondence and business news, participation in preparation of trade and investment related materials. You will also take the lead in organizing and handling the logistics of various high level events planned by the Commercial Section to promote the UK business interests during the period of the temporary contract.

The successful candidate will be assisting the British Embassy develop a dynamic trade relationship between the UK and Uzbekistan. As such, you must be able to demonstrate that you have a sound knowledge of the commercial and economic scene in Uzbekistan, and ideally, knowledge of UK industry and business practices. The role requires enthusiasm, flexibility, perseverance, good interpersonal and communication skills and strong team work as well as the ability to work independently.

Applicants should have a higher education degree, excellent written and spoken English and Russian language skills, as well as a good working knowledge of Uzbek. You will also need to have good knowledge of the Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Power Point. The position will be available on a temporary basis from 1 September 2013 to 31 March 2014.
