Ana Belen went through a rigorous selection process for a programme that awards outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world. This year the British Embassy awarded two scholarships, as well as Ana Belen’s to a Guatemalan national who is going to study at the University of Essex. Both have been awarded with full scholarships that include travel costs, a monthly stipend, and academic fees.

The Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. Chevening Scholars come from 118 countries worldwide, and this year the Scholarships will support more than 600 individuals.

To mark the event, British Ambassador to Honduras, Sarah Dickson said:

“I would like to congratulate Ana Belen on her scholarship. The Chevening programme has a rich history and is one of the most prestigious scholarships. Her experience in the United Kingdom will expose her to high standards of education and to a rich and diverse cultural experience. Upon her return, I’m sure she’ll make outstanding contributions to Honduras’s development. I wish her the very best of luck.”

The process for applying for Chevening Scholarships for the academic year 2014/2015 is now open for Guatemala and Honduras. Please visit this web page to get all the details.
