Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The Scholarships offer the opportunity to study for a one-year Master’s degree at any of the UK’s leading universities, and are awarded to outstanding established or emerging leaders across a wide range of fields, including development studies, economics and financial regulation, law and criminal justice and governance and public administration.

The programme provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the future to build a global network of continuing professional significance and also to establish social, cultural, academic or commercial partnerships with the UK. Earlier this year, the FCO announced a significant increase in the investment it will make to the global Programme, thereby offering more scholarships across the globe.

The Chevening Scholarship programme opens up a world of new and exciting opportunities for students. From experiencing life in the UK to networking with Chevening and other scholars from around the world, the Chevening programme enriches the lives of it scholars. In recent years, scholars from Sri Lanka and the Maldives have followed courses at the University of Cambridge, the University of Sussex, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the University of London, the University of Nottingham, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the University of Oxford. This year’s scholars, Ahila Thillainathan from Sri Lanka and Ahmed Sinaz from the Maldives, are currently following courses at LSE and the University of Birmingham, respectively.

Applicants should read the online guidance and demonstrate how they meet the Chevening selection criteria before submitting an application.
