On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, The British Embassy in Tunis and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Tunisia are organising a competition for Tunisian graffiti artists and calligraphers. This competition urges talented graffiti artists and calligraphers to create a graffiti mural inspired by the following themes:

  • Rights of minorities
  • Transitional Justice
  • Freedom of expression
  • Fight against torture

How to participate

The competition is open to amateurs or professional graffiti artists and calligraphers living in Tunisia aged between 18 and 40 years old. The deadline for submission of candidacies is 31 December 2015, 23h Tunis Time. Applicants should send the below- mentioned documents to the email address britishembassytunis@fco.gov.uk or to the address Rue du Lac Windermere, Les Berges du Lac, 1053 Tunis, Tunisia:

  • A CV or a summary of the relevant personal information
  • A suggestion for the graffiti mural
  • An example of previous works

It is important to mention the following title on top of your email/ letter: ‘Graffiti competition’ before 31 December 2015, 23h Tunis Time .

The prize

The final result will be announced on 8 January 2016. The winners will be selected by a panel of jury selected by the two institutions. The first winner will have the privilege to exhibit their work in one of the largest avenues of Tunis, and the British Embassy in Tunis as well as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Tunisia will take in charge all logistical expenses in this regard. Winners will also receive vouchers that can be used in one of the largest stores in Tunis, specialised in the sale of drawing and design furniture.
