Commodore Wainhouse Visits New National Defence University in Astana, Kazakhstan

On 4 July, 2014, the Deputy Commandant of UK’s Joint Command and Staff College – Commodore Mike Wainhouse – visited Kazakhstan’s new National Defence University.

On 4 July, 2014, the Deputy Commandant of UK’s Joint Command and Staff College – Commodore Mike Wainhouse – visited Kazakhstan’s new National Defence University.

He took part in the Graduation Ceremony and participated in the International Conference “Military education and science in the light of the Strategy Kazakhstan-2050”.

He also held a meeting with the Commandant Maj Gen Ryspaev when he delivered a letter from the Commandant of the UK’s Defence Academy suggesting closer cooperation between the two institutions in the future. It is hoped to sign a Memorandum of Understanding specifying the detail of the cooperation later in the year.

As part of his short visit Commodore Wainhouse also met with the President of the Centre for Military Strategic Research (Maj Gen Karbusov) the previous day.
