Commander of the Kazakh Airmobile Forces, MG Aldabergenov visited the UK
Between 11 and 14 February the Commander of the Kazakh Airmobile Forces visited UK in order to witness UK's first Mechanised Brigade in its final stages of training for operations in Afghanistan
MG Aldabergenov, accompanied by 4 other Kazakh officers, visited the Operational Training and Advisory Group at Lydd in Kent where he was briefed on the individual and collective training units undertake. He was able to witness at first hand the training to improve shooting standards and Improvised Explosive Device awareness.
The following day at Warminster in Wiltshire he received a detailed briefing from Commander Collective Training Group on the concept and organisation of the UK’s collective training and visited the Field Training Unit conducting the final preparations for Op HERRICK. Included in the visit were tours of the simulation used at the Combined Arms Staff Trainer and the Combined Arms Tactical Trainer.
The visit was the result of a personal invitation to MG Aldabergenov by Commander Collective Group, Brig Toomey, who had taken part in the Closing Ceremony of Ex STEPPE EAGLE 12. MG Aldabergenov has now handed over command of the Airmobile Forces to MG Ospanov.
