Celebrating GREAT Sport in Kazakhstan
This summer British Embassy Kazakhstan will hold two Queen’s Birthday Parties devoted to sporting theme.
The Queen’s Birthday is the UK’s National Day. It is a day when we celebrate everything that makes Britain a GREAT place to live, work, study and do business. This year we will promote Britain as a home to some of the greatest sports and sporting venues in the world.
Being the world’s greatest sporting nation the UK hosted the Olympic and Paralympic Games for three times. London became the first city which hosted the modern Olympic Games such number of times. This year we will be welcoming the whole world at the Rugby World Cup.
Great Britain gave birth to such major international sports as rugby, cricket, golf, table tennis and curling. Our country also played a major role in the development of disability sport. The Paralympic Games originated in the UK in 1948 and was actively promoted by the British Paralympic athletes throughout the decades.
