Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi will be travelling to the United Kingdom from 3-7 February to engage with other leaders from around the globe.
The British Consulate-General in Calgary nominated Mayor Nenshi for this prestigious UK Government programme, which brings together important partners of the UK to engage with some of the best and brightest people from around the world. While in London the mayor will be joined by other delegates from around the world to share best practices and to showcase the UK-Calgary relationship to the international community.
Mr. Tony Kay, OBE, British Consul General in Calgary said:
I’m delighted that Mayor Nenshi is visiting London. The International Leaders Programme, an initiative of Foreign Secretary William Hague, is an opportunity for leaders from around the world to explore the UK’s approach to important social, security and prosperity issues. Calgary is a dynamic and increasingly globally-focussed city and there is no more dynamic and global city than London. These two great cities have much in common and face similar opportunities and challenges. The mayor, representing the people of Calgary, will explore and develop productive relationships with British partners like Transport for London and the City of London. We look forward to discussing and learning from the important municipal issues that shape our day-to-day lives.
