Mr Swire has responsibility for the UK’s relationship with Australasia and the Pacific, as well as the Commonwealth. This will be his first visit to Solomon Islands. In fact, this will be the first visit of any serving British Minister of State since 2003.

Mr Swire will be meeting the Governor General, Prime Minister and senior Ministers in a visit that will further enhance the close relationship between the two countries.

His visit follows on closely from the visit of the UK branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in February and, of course, the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last year.

Mr Swire will also have the opportunity to meet Solomon Islanders who have been supported in various ways by the UK throughout the last year.
