The event held in New Delhi underlined the UK’s support for LGBT rights around the world.
On Saturday 17 May 2014, the British High Commission New Delhi hosted an informal round table of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) and HIV/AIDS activists, campaigners and NGOs at the India International Centre to mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO).
The purpose of the event was to underline the UK’s support for LGBT rights around the world. The event was attended by Anand Grover and representative of the European Union and other diplomatic missions. Anand Grover is a member of the UNAIDS Reference Group on HIV and Human Rights and a Special Rapporteur in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The Foreign Secretary, William Hague has also issued a statement to mark the occasion.
