On 23-27 February 2015 Mr Ian Crawford, Professor of the University of Bath, will deliver a series of lectures on Corporate Budgeting and Investment Decision Making for the students of the Banking and Finance Academy and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan. The one week master class was sponsored by the British Embassy and implemented by the British Council in partnership with the University of Bath.

During the week Professor Crawford will be lecturing on diverse topics including corporate budgeting, standard and direct costing, managerial decisions, application of International Financial Reporting Standards to the banking system, and methods of evaluating and reducing investment risks. Professor Crawford will share British experience in these areas with a view to students gaining a better understanding of how it might be applied in Uzbekistan. The lectures and discussion with students in both educational establishments will be taking place entirely in English.

On 23 February 2015 Professor Adkham Bekmuradov, Rector of the BFA, Mr George Edgar, British Ambassador, and Mr Mark Crossey, Director of the British Council in Uzbekistan, welcomed 60 BFA students participating in the lectures.

The British Ambassador said at the opening ceremony:

It’s a pleasure to continue our co-operation with the Banking and Finance Academy, and to welcome students attending Professor Crawford’s third lecture series here. I hope the experience that Professor Crawford brings will be useful to you as future leaders in the financial sector in Uzbekistan.

This is the third master class organized by the British Embassy and the British Council at the BFA since 2012, following lectures on audit, finance and taxation led by experts from the University of Bath and London Metropolitan University.
