British Ambassador to Korea Scott Wightman today launched a five day “GREAT Britain Festival”.

The event runs from today until March 31 on Garosu-gil, Sinsa-dong and is a central part of the GREAT Britain campaign, the British government’s biggest ever international marketing and communications campaign.

The GREAT Festival will celebrate the best of British fashion, design and food and drink. During the event, Garosugil will be covered in British branding and a range of stores, cafes and bars will be running promotions on British products. Visitors will also be able to enjoy British games, a marching band performance, a fashion parade and showcases by famous British car manufacturers.

Speaking at a press conference this morning at Garosugil café La Eskimo, Ambassador Wightman said:

I hope many Seoulites will come down to Garosugil and enjoy the GREAT Festival. Some of the most popular British brands in Korea will offer a broad range of on- and off-line events and we hope there will be an atmosphere of celebration. We want to showcase the best of contemporary Britain and I’m confident Korean consumers will enjoy the promotions and activities taking place.
