Details

Recent trends in new vehicle registrations have been heavily affected by the measures implemented from March 2020 onwards to limit the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

During July to September 2022, in the United Kingdom, there were:

  • 551,000 vehicles registered for the first time
  • 89,000 plug-in vehicles registered for the first time
  • 60,000 battery electric cars registered for the first time

At the end of September 2022, in the United Kingdom, there were:

  • 40.8 million licensed vehicles
  • 1.0 million licensed plug-in vehicles
