The annual publication of Statistics on Community Care for Adults in Northern Ireland details analyses on a range of community activity gathered from HSC Trusts. These include Contacts with HSC Trusts (by persons in the Elderly Care, Learning Disability and Physical & Sensory Disability Programmes of Care), Care Packages in Effect (Residential and Nursing), Meals on Wheels Services, Residential and Nursing Accommodation and Day Care Registrations.

The majority of information presented in this publication derives from a number of annual returns provided by each of the five Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland to Community Information Branch in the Department of Health, Social Services & Public Safety. These aggregated statistical counts, which were introduced from 1 April 1988, and relate to a range of community activity including contacts, meals on wheels, residential homes and day care.
