Details

This statistical release presents data on the number of reported treasure finds for 2023 and provisional figures for 2024 within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Data for 2023 are broken down by county, region, period, distribution and method of discovery. Figures for 2024 are provisional and are provided by county and region only.

Data presented on treasure finds are collected by the Department of Portable Antiquities & Treasure at the British Museum and recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme.

  • Geographic coverage – National, Regional and county level data for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This release does not cover Scotland.
  • Next release date – November 2026 (provisional).

Pre-release access

The document above contains a list of minsters and officials who have received privileged early access to this release of Reported Treasure Finds. In line with best practice, the list has been kept to a minimum and those given access for briefing purposes had a maximum of 24 hours.
