Details

There was a 9% increase in the number of road goods vehicles travelling from Great Britain to mainland Europe in the 12 month period ending September 2014.

Road goods vehicles increased by 233 thousand to 2.8 million road taking the total to just 2% lower than 2007 in the pre-recession peak.

Of the total road goods vehicles:

  • 2.2 million were powered vehicles
  • 678,000 were unaccompanied trailers

During July to September 2014:

  • 737 thousand goods vehicles travelled from Great Britain to mainland Europe (557 thousand powered vehicles and 180 unaccompanied trailers). This was the highest July to September total in the last 30 years
