Details

Statistics on road freight transported by Great Britain and UK registered Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in the United Kingdom and internationally from April 2018 to March 2019.

Domestic road freight activity by Great Britain registered HGVs operating in the UK increased in the 12 month period ending March 2019 compared to the previous 12 months.

There were increases of:

  • 4% in the amount of goods lifted, to 1.42 billion tonnes
  • 2% in the amount of goods moved, to 151 billion tonne kilometres

International road freight activity by UK-registered HGVs transporting freight internationally increased in the 12 month period ending March 2019 compared to the previous 12 months.

There was an increase of:

  • 19% in the amount of goods lifted, to 9.1 million tonnes

There was an increase of:

  • 12% in the amount of goods moved, to 5.8 billion tonne kilometres
