Details

Statistics on road freight transported by Great Britain and UK registered Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in the United Kingdom and internationally in 2017.

Domestic freight activity by GB-registered HGVs operating in the UK decreased in 2017.

There were decreases compared to 2016 of:

  • 3% in the amount of goods lifted, to 1.40 billion tonnes
  • 1% in the amount of goods moved, to 147 billion tonne kilometres

International road freight by UK-registered HGVs transporting freight internationally increased in 2017.

There were increases compared to 2016 of:

  • 1% in the amount of goods lifted, to 7.8 million tonnes
  • 5% in the amount of goods moved, to 5.4 billion tonne kilometres
