For the year ending December 2021, the number of local bus passenger journeys in:
- England was 2.45 billion, a 15% increase
- London increased by 15%
- England outside London increased by 17%
Comparing local bus passenger journeys for September to December 2021 to the same period in 2020, we see:
- a 53% increase in England
- London increased by 48%
- England outside London increased by 59%
- Scotland increased by 43%
- Wales increased by 61%
The local bus fares index increased by 0.9% in England between December 2020 and December 2021.
For other areas, the local bus fares index change was a:
- 3.3% increase in London
- 1.6% decrease in metropolitan areas
- 0.1% increase in non-metropolitan areas
- 0.4% increase in Scotland
- 1.3% change in Wales
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) increased by 5.4% over the same 12-month period.
