Details
The local bus fares index increased by 15% in England outside London between December 2024 and December 2025. This period covers the introduction of the £3 fare cap in England from 1 January 2025, which has led to a larger change than previous quarters.
For other areas, the local bus fares index changes between December 2024 and December 2025 were:

12% increase in metropolitan areas

17% increase in non-metropolitan areas

9% increase in Wales
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 3% over the same 12-month period.
