Statistics on local bus fares in Great Britain. 

The local bus fares index increased by 6% in England outside London between March 2025 and March 2026. This period starts after the introduction of the £3 fare cap in England, which was 1 January 2025.

For other areas, the local bus fares index changes between March 2025 and March 2026 were:

  • 0% increase in London
  • 6% increase in metropolitan areas
  • 5% increase in non-metropolitan areas
  • 11% increase in Scotland
  • 5% increase in Wales

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 3% over the same 12-month period.
