This statistical first release (SFR) provides information on results from the phonics screening check and key stage 1 teacher assessments. This information is broken down by:

  • gender
  • ethnicity
  • first language
  • eligibility for free school meals (FSM)
  • special educational needs (SEN)
  • disadvantaged children - added December 2014

These statistics are based on provisional data that local authorities submitted to the Department for Education in August 2014.
