  2. 13 March 2026

     A revision has been made to the data tables attachment relating to MOD regional expenditure statistics with industry 2024/25. revision has been made across financial years 2020/21 to 2024/25 in the MOD direct expenditure with Small and Medium-sized Enterprise time series (Table 9). This affects the totals for England and UK only. Figures for the regions of England and devolved nations are unaffected.

This publication provides figures on MOD expenditure with UK industry, broken down by region and industry group.

These statistics do not include estimates of MOD supported jobs with UK industry as previously published under the MOD regional expenditure with UK industry and supported employment statistics.

Updates to MOD supported jobs estimates will be published under their own statistical collection when available.

Revisions

In June 2026, figures for 2020/21 to 2024/25 were revised due to a review of location of work codes used to classify expenditure as either UK or overseas. This was to address an issue where six contracts had been incorrectly allocated a location wholly overseas or had defaulted to using supplier headquarter locations instead of known worksites. The revision has uplifted total UK spending across these years by up to 1%. This has further impacted breakdowns by region and industry. Therefore, the time series presented in this release should be used over any previous editions where figures will differ.
