This publication summarises information about uses of the Mental Health Act 1983 for the reporting year. It includes information from high security psychiatric hospitals as well as from other NHS service providers and independent hospitals. Previously produced from the KP90 collection, this year’s publication is produced using the MHSDS for the first time. This allows the inclusion of additional demographic breakdowns which were not possible under the KP90, as outlined in the feature ‘Improved reporting to support better care’ which accompanied last year’s report.
