This release was corrected on 12 October 2026 at 11:18. The ICES rectangle assigned to a small number of records in the ODS file was corrected where positions fell outside the ICES statistical rectangle grid. Affected records are now reported as UNK rather than an incorrectly derived ICES rectangle. In addition, rounding applied to measures in the accompanying ODS dataset was removed to improve precision.
The publication presents information from the Landings Enriched Approach to Positional FISHeries Data (LEAPFISH) for 2024. LEAPFISH combines landings data for UK vessels and Crown Dependency vessels that are 12 metres and over, with Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) information to provide a more detailed spatial understanding of fishing activity.
LEAPFISH provides estimates of weight, value, time spent at sea and fishing effort at 0.05 c-square resolution, providing finer spatial detail than landings data published in UK Sea Fisheries Statistics 2024
An accompanying spatial data layer will also be available on Defra Data Services Platform shortly after the statistics release.
