Details

The HMPPS Annual Digest statistics cover data on Escapes, Absconds, Failure to return from ROTL and Releases in Error; Random Mandatory Drug Testing; Protesting Behaviour; Finds in Prison; Prison Crowding; Prisoners’ Earnings subject to the Prisoners’ Earnings Act 1996; and Community Accommodation Service (CAS-2) referrals.

A number of changes are being made to the HMPPS Annual Digest in response to the Government Internal Audit Agency’s recommendation to consolidate equality data in the HMPPS Annual Offender Equalities Report, and to rationalise the remaining chapters. As a result, there is no intention to release an HMPPS Annual Digest publication from 2026-27. Plans for the placement of data formerly included in the Digest are summarised in the bulletin. We welcome user views on these changes; contact details are available on the last page of the bulletin.
