Details

The dementia surveillance factsheets are interactive products that show data for England and each of the 42 integrated care boards (ICBs). This release includes data up to March 2026 for 5 indicators on:

  • prevalence of people with a formal diagnosis of dementia
  • estimated dementia diagnosis rate
  • referrals to memory assessment services by primary care practices
  • levels of antipsychotic drug prescribing for people with dementia
  • provision of care plans and care plan reviews

The dementia profile provides public health intelligence and data related to dementia, the associated epidemiology and service access. This release includes an update to the ‘estimated dementia diagnosis rate’ indicator in the ‘diagnosing well and prevalence’ topic of the dementia profile, with data for March 2026. The indicator uses the primary care dementia data published by NHS England. Data is presented for England, health geographies (ICB areas and sub areas) and administrative areas (regions, upper tier and lower tier local authorities).
