Details

Statistics on the number of road goods vehicles which travel from Great Britain to Europe for October to December 2017. This release, for the first time, provides statistics on the number of road goods vehicles which travel from Great Britain to the island of Ireland.

In the year ending December 2017, 3.5 million road goods vehicles travelled from Great Britain to Europe, of which:

  • 2.4 million were powered vehicles
  • 1.0 million were unaccompanied trailers

81% of powered vehicles travelled from Dover Strait ports, whilst 71% of unaccompanied trailers travelled from North Sea ports.

The number of powered vehicles that travelled from Great Britain to Europe decreased by 1%, of which:

  • 0.3 million were UK-registered
  • 2.1 million were foreign-registered
