An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Zoë Fullagar. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Linbeck Gill at Linbeck, Birkby, Ravenglass, Cumbria at National Grid Reference (NGR) SD 14410 97990.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 792 cubic metres an hour
  • 19,008 cubic metres a day
  • 4,695,926 cubic metres a year

Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for power production. All water abstracted will be discharged to the Linbeck Gill at NGR SD 14050 98150.

Application is also being made for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the Linbeck Gill at Linbeck, Birkby, Ravenglass, Cumbria at NGR SD 14410 97990

The object of impounding water by means of the works is to build a coanda screen weir to create a head for abstraction.
