1. Details of the application

Yorkshire Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The application is for an impounding licence to alter an existing impoundment works at Ten Acre Reservoir at National Grid Reference SE 24 53, Haverah Park, near Harrogate.

The proposal is to excavate a channel in the existing embankment to allow flow downstream into Oak Beck. This will reduce the storage capacity of Ten Acre Reservoir from 148,934 cubic metres to 5,000 cubic metres. There are no compensation flow requirements. An impoundment licence is needed before any works can be carried out. The licence, if granted, will supersede Section 26 of the Harrogate Waterworks Act 1846 and Section 19 of the Harrogate Waterworks Act 1869.
