Wyke Farms Ltd : application made to abstract water

Wyke Farms Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 16/52/009/G/134/R01 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of the Dyrham Formation at National Grid References ST 66804 34021, ST 66753 34015 and ST 66938 34072 at Bruton, Somerset.
The variation applied for is to increase the abstraction quantities to the following figures:
Agriculture other than spray irrigation:
- 300 cubic metres per day
- 109,500 cubic metres per year.
Industrial process water:
- 600 cubic metres per day
- 219,000 cubic metres per year.
The variation also requests the removal of conditions that restricts abstraction to 600 cubic metres per day on all but 14 calendar days. This would allow abstraction of 900 cubic metres per day, all year.
