Details of the application

Worstead Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence AN/034/0009/016 which currently authorises filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation, in Smallburgh, Norfolk.

The application is to:

  • add an abstraction reach between National Grid References TG 30051 25567 and TG 30255 24953
  • add an abstraction point at National Grid Reference TG 31060 24910
  • increase the maximum licenced volume to 150,000 cubic metres per year
  • increase the instantaneous rate from 10.0 to 11.5 litres per second
  • add a ‘high flow’ abstraction of 2,600 cubic metres during flood conditions
