IFF Research conducted the third wave of the working lives of teachers and leaders survey on behalf of the Department for Education in 2024.

The survey asked teachers and leaders in state schools in England questions about their experiences on topics including:

  • flexible working
  • workload
  • wellbeing
  • professional development
  • career plans
  • pupil behaviour
  • leaving the profession

The research report, summary report and data tables explain the survey’s findings.

The technical report explains the methodology.

We have also published a wave 3 qualitative study of teacher workload and a waves 1 to 3 research report on teachers and leaders leaving state education.
