Details

FOI Ref 1059-13 explains that between April 2012 and July 2013, the FCO recruited graduate and undergraduate interns and, offered summer work experience placements to 16-18 years old students from low socio-economic backgrounds through the Social Mobility Foundation Whitehall Internship Programme. FCO Services, a Trading Fund of the FCO, recruited Technical Engineering apprentices and in 2012, offered an IT trainee scheme. In all cases applicants are not asked if they have experience in care work neither is it recorded if the person has mentioned it. The Social Mobility Foundation confirmed they are not aware of any students placed in the FCO in 2012 or 2013 who had a care experience background. A link to internship and work experience schemes is given.
