Details

We published the fifth and final statutory independent review of the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) on 27 November 2014.

Dr Paul Litchfield, who led the fourth independent review in 2013, was re-appointed to lead the fifth independent review on 6 March 2014. This review sets out a series of recommendations to the government based on the evidence he collected as part of the review, and which complement the recommendations from the first 4 annual reviews.

The government published its response to Dr Litchfield’s report on 27 February 2015.

We published the terms of reference for the fifth independent review on 6 March 2014.

Dr Litchfield issued a call for evidence to inform the fifth independent review that ran from 10 June 2014 to 15 August 2014.
