WM Bracey Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The application is to vary licence serial number 7/34/10/*S/0103 which authorises the abstraction of water from an unlined reservoir adjacent to the Ormesby Broad at National Grid Reference (NGR) TG 46542 16911.

The variation applied for is to change the purpose of abstraction from ‘frost protection for spray irrigation’ to ‘storage for subsequent spray irrigation’ into a planned reservoir at NGR TG 46985 18070. The quantities and period of abstraction will be changed accordingly:

Current licence

  • 5,230 cubic metres per day

  • 52,300 cubic metres per year

  • Between 1 March and 7 June inclusive in each year

New licence

  • 3,382 cubic metres per day

  • 31,380 cubic metres per year

  • Between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year
