WJ Groundwater Limited: application made to abstract water

WJ Groundwater Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from boreholes drilled into the Chalk aquifer near Canary Wharf, London at National Grid References (NGRs) TQ 36981 80310, TQ 37114 80125 and TQ 37051 80129 to transfer it to the River Thames at NGRs TQ 37046 80133 and TQ 36980 80294 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 72 cubic metres an hour
- 1,728 cubic metres a day
- 630,720 cubic metres a year
- Abstraction will take place all year.
The abstraction is for the purpose of dewatering to maintain water levels.
