Wisewood Hydro Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from River Loxley at Wisewood Weir at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 31760 89625.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 2,340 cubic metres an hour
  • 56,160 cubic metres a day
  • 20,554,560 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for hydro-electric power generation. All abstracted water will be returned to the River Loxley at NGR SK 31775 89610.
