This report presents the findings of research into the wider economic impacts of road freight interventions.

It identifies the potential impacts of improved road infrastructure on the freight sector, including supply chain efficiencies and land use changes. It also generates new evidence through primary and secondary research on how, when and under what conditions road freight investments lead to these impacts.

The report assesses the implications of these research findings for future appraisal and economic narratives.

ARUP and AECOM carried out this research on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT).
