The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Lanes Farm Energy Limited.

5.4 A(1) b) (i) - Bespoke installation permit to operate an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant at Lanes Farm, off Pontefract Road, Ackworth. The total quantity of waste accepted at the Site for treatment shall be less than 80,000 tonnes a year of farm wastes including manures and silage, and food wastes. The digestate will be processed to a PAS110 ADQP standard to allow it to be used as a biofertilizer product, under the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme (BCS). The site will be seeking approval by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and all wastes will be treated in accordance with the Animal By-Products Regulations (ABPR). The biogas evolved from the AD process will be primarily injected into the National Gas grid, with approximately 13% being used to generate on-site power via a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engine. The electricity and heat generated is used to power the AD plant equipment and to heat the digester, a natural gas boiler is also present to supplement the additional heating requirements.
