Details

In 2019, Weymouth Town Council submitted a request under the Sustainable Communities Act 2007, asking the government to consider changes to allow parish and town councils to pay members dependent carers’ allowance.

The government has considered the proposal and has communicated a decision in writing to Weymouth Town Council. We would like to thank Weymouth Town Council for raising this issue and bringing the proposal to the government. This page includes the letter from government and Weymouth’s original proposal.

We are committed to working with local councils to support them in delivering sustainable and effective representation for their constituents. We welcome continued engagement on this issue with the sector.
